Sirmour is situated in the beautiful hills of Himachal and Nahan is a distinguished place as a famous educational centre of sirmour. It is a matter of great pride for AVN Sr. Sec. School to be an integral part of this educational heritage of Nahan. AVN School is known for its qualitative education, discipline, for imparting the moral values and education related to life. With the grace of ‘goddess sarswati‘ this institution has established new dimensions of progress and embedded itself with the great achievements and fulfilled its liabilities for the society with perseverance and honesty.
It was set up as the coaching centre in 1977 and after two years it came into being as a school with small no. of students only but now this school is fulfilling its responsibilities by all its means and the credit undoubtedly goes to the founder of the institution Shri K.K. Chandola Ji who is a dynamic, innovative, compassionate, respected and a visionary who has taken to the school to the dizzying heights. It is of course, his sincere and dedicated effort that the school made a name in the educational circle of the state. He has been credited for the great progress of the school. When the school was in its infant stage, he fulfilled all financial needs by giving tuitions.
The School was affiliated to 5th class add the number increased very soon to 126. It was due to the hard efforts of Shri K.K. Chandola Ji that in 1982 -83 school stepped on 8th class and consequently in 1989 first batch of matric got passed. The school always got the meritorious place in HP Board Of School Education Dharamshala and this ritual of getting merits is still continued. In the year 2006 – 2007 this institution was upgraded to 10+2. Responsibilities and liabilities increased but in the guidance and leadership of Shri K.K. Chandola Ji, school is getting higher grades in every field. Various distinguished honours and awards have been given to the school by govt. and non-govt. institutions.
In 1992 – 93 State Council for Science, Technology and environment honoured the school by giving it an all-round Best School Award in the State by Sh. Radha Raman Shastri, Education Minister of Himachal Pradesh. The award comprised of a trophy and 50000 Rs. an award which was not given to any other school in the state before and after this state level Children Science Fair. In 1993 Mr. Chandola was honoured with ‘Himotkarsh State Award’ and he was also honoured with ‘Avantika National Humanity Award’ in 2001. In 2010 he received ‘Shiksha Bharti Award’ and in 2011 he was given ‘Indian Achievers Award’ for his excellent services in the field of education by Indian Achievers Forum at New Delhi. Apart from these honours, Rotary Club, Lions Club and many other social organisation honoured him for his honest and sincere services. There after the school never looked back and made many marks in its journey. Almost every year it bagged merit- places and earned a name for itself.
In the year 2006 the achievements of the school impressed Sh. B.R. Rahi, Chairman, H.P. Board Of School Education so much that he declared it a Senior Secondary school and nominated Sh. K.K. Chandola Ji a member of his advisory committee in H.P. Board of School Education. Since then every year the school has given outstanding performance in science and commerce streams. Sh. K.K. Chandola Ji coaches his teachers with positive strategy. His ability to work as a member of a team is an important leadership skill too. So many awards have been achieved by the school in curricular and co-curricular activities in distt. , state and national level also such as in debate, declamation, painting and in creative writing.
School has become a pioneer in natural preservation programmes, consumers’ rights, scout and guide, cultural programmes, science congress and in social activities also. School administration is contributing in internal and board examination as well as moral values are also being inculcated in students. That’s why thousands of students are contributing directly or indirectly in the field of medical, engineering, civil services, education, govt. and private sectors. Many students from the school have occupied glorious positions in our state.
The discipline, the study atmosphere and the brilliant academic results of the school attract many meritorious students from the distant parts of the state.
